What is the Mission of Jesus?

I have always thought that the passage that Jesus quoted from Isaiah at the beginning of his ministry was the best summary of how he lived.  I love this passage.  Here are a few points to take away from it today.

Luke 4:18-19

18 "The Spirit of the LORD is upon me,
  for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released,
  that the blind will see,
that the oppressed will be set free,19   and that the time of the LORD's favor has come.s"

*  The power for this way of living came from the Spirit of the Lord that was "upon him."  We can't do this in our own strength we have to be "plugged in" and filled with the Holy Spirit

*  We all experience the bondage that comes from hurts, pain, life, and sin.  It is the power of Jesus that sets us free.  The amazing thing is that we get to join Jesus in this ministry and continue to proclaim the same freedom we have experienced to others.

*  Thank you Lord that we live in the day and age of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit and your favor.
