The Forming of Community - What do we value?

The last verses I will leave you with this week before we meet on Sunday, are from Acts 2. The writer Luke shares a description of the life of the new church that formed after the outpouring of the Holy Spirit that happened at Pentecost.  As you read these verses think about the actions that you see and then ask yourself "What was important to them that caused them to take these actions?"  Our actions will always grow out of what we value.  What do you value?  Does it line up with the values of the early church?

The Believers Form a Community Acts 2:42-47

42 All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord's Supper, and to prayer.  43 A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders.44 And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had.45 They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need.46 They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord's Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity47 all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.

Also, If you haven't seen it I launched the Riverbank website and Facebook page.  The website now includes an events calendar so you can check on times and schedules.

I look forward to seeing everybody on Sunday evening 4-6 at the Shipman center as we continue this journey together of discovering what God has in store for us here in Nelson Co.  Spread the word and bring a friend.

God Bless,

Pastor Brian
